Tech Lead - Industrial Engineering

Professional Summary

We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead - Industrial Engineering to direct and manage a team of onsite Industrial Engineers supporting 4–5 manufacturing facilities in the Appleton, WI area. In this role, you will lead key manufacturing transformation programs, process optimization efforts, line balancing, time studies, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will also serve as the primary liaison between customer leadership, onsite teams, and offshore resources, driving governance, project delivery, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Team Leadership: Lead and manage onsite Industrial Engineers executing time studies, work measurement, line balancing, Lean Manufacturing, and productivity initiatives across multiple facilities.
  • Stakeholder & Delivery Governance: Serve as the primary liaison between customer, onsite, and offshore teams; manage project governance, resource allocation, risk mitigation, and executive reporting.
  • Manufacturing Transformation: Drive assembly line consolidation, high-flow line implementation, labor optimization, automation, robotics, and digital manufacturing projects.
  • Process Improvement & Line Balancing: Execute video-based time studies, work breakdown activities, multi-model line balancing, level loading, and Yamazumi chart analysis in high-volume/high-mix environments.
  • Standardization & Quality: Develop SOPs and standardized operating procedures; implement Lean, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, and Poka-Yoke methodologies.
  • Data & Continuous Improvement: Utilize data analytics tools to build performance dashboards, track KPIs, foster a continuous improvement culture, and optimize operations for cost reduction.
  • Account Expansion: Collaborate with customer leadership and cross-functional teams to identify new business opportunities and expand engagement scope.

Technical Requirements (Must-Have)

  • Experience: 7–15 years of progressive experience in Industrial Engineering and technical team leadership.
  • Industry Background: Manufacturing experience in Automotive, Truck, or Off-Highway sectors.
  • Core Methodologies: Video-based time studies, line balancing (Yamazumi charts), high-volume/high-mix production, multi-model line balancing, and level loading.
  • Lean & Quality Tools: Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, and Total Quality Management (TQM).
  • Delivery & Governance: Proven experience in Onsite-Offshore delivery models, program governance, multi-project delivery, risk management, and KPI-driven management.
  • Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen (USC) or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) required.

Desired Skills (Nice-to-Have)

  • Hands-on experience with automation, robotics, material flow, and digital manufacturing solutions.
  • Route, warehouse, and inventory optimization expertise.
  • Change management and executive stakeholder management experience.

Position Details

  • Location: Appleton, WI (Onsite)
  • Compensation: $60,000 - $100,000
  • Work Authorization: USC / Green Card Only
